Staff sergeant Yakir Levi z”l from Moreshet, a warrior in battalion 13 in Golani division, fell at Paga base while defending the military post on October 7th<\/sup> 2023 (Tishrei 22nd<\/sup> Tashpad), he was 21 years old when he fell.<\/p>\n

Yakir was a squad commander in Golani’s battalion 13 and was in the Gaza Strip for two months. He stayed in the IDF on the Sabbath of Simchat Tora, and a 6 am he patrolled with some soldiers. When they returned to the base he was told that there is a break in of 4 terrorists to the base and everyone got stationed in their positions, only then they understood the amount of terrorists that had entered the base. They battled for hours.<\/p>\n

At around 11 am, when the soldiers were in the shelter in the dining room, the terrorists started burning buildings outside and Yakir and other soldiers decided to go out and charge them, he fought in multiple sites on the base. Yakir ran a battle against the terrorists as a real hero does while evacuating those injured around him, and keeping his soldiers’ moral high with sentences like “you can do it!”, “this is what you got drafted for”. Friends who were in the battle with him told that he fought fiercely and did everything he could to save his friends. He exited under fire, and sadly, fell in true bravery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
