“A man full of joy for life who we will all miss”ץ
The Magen David Adom family mourns MDA volunteer EMT and IDF soldier Sergeant Major Elkana Newlander’s HY”D, who fell in The Gaza Strip. He was 24 years old.
Elkana was a devoted and professional EMT, who started in MDA in 2015, and volunteered since then as a volunteer at the Jerusalem MDA station alongside his father, MDA EMT Avri Newlander. Throughout his years in MDA he treated and saved many people’s lives.
Moshe Benita, a paramedic at the Jerusalem MDA Station and Elkana’s friend: “He was a great volunteer, it was always important for him to know everything that was happening in order to give of himself and save lives at every opportunity. Human life was his main priority, and I always wanted to work with him. Elkana was a man of great virtue who acted sensitively and with devotion towards everyone around him. His smile and kind heart will be missed by us all.”
Eli Gertner, Head of the Jerusalem MDA Station volunteers: “Elkana was a man full of joy for life, a devoted EMT, very active, professional and full of compassion. He was an inseparable part of the Jerusalem MDA station. He was an amazing friend, there is no way to explain it, we will miss him very much.”
MDA Director General Eli Bin eulogized Elkana: “Elkana was a professional and devoted MDA volunteer, who gave each of his patients his personal attention. Magen David Adom is in mourning, and holds his family close – his father, MDA volunteer Avri Newlander, his mother Nava and his siblings. May his memory be blessed.”
