EU Ambassador in MDA

The head of EU delegation to the state of Israel, Ambassador Dimiter Tzantchev, visited Magen David Adom

“I was deeply impressed by the courage and the sense of duty of MDA personnel who were risking their own lives to save the lives of thousands of Israelis who found themselves under the murderous attack by the terrorists on October 7.”

Ambassador Dimiter Tzantchev, and the head of the cooperation section at the EU Delegation to Israel, Mr. Eduardo Fernandez-Zincke arrived at Magen David Adom’s National Operation Center where they met MDA’s Director General Eli Bin and the organization’s senior management team. The Ambassador heard about the organization’s activity which began in the first hours of The “Iron Swords” War on October 7th, the field team’s activity, some under fire while endangering their lives, the increased level of alert the organization is maintaining and the preparation for what may come. Ambassador Tzantchev saw MDA’s ambulance from Kisuffim that was hit by terrorist’s fire at the first moments of the infiltration of the kibbutz in order to make it unable to use and in order to prevent MDA’s EMTs and paramedics to provide medical assistance to the victims and evacuate them to the hospitals, did a tour of the 101 Emergency Call Center and heard heroic stories of MDA teams who sacrificed their lives while applying first aid.

In addition, they heard about MDA’s Blood Bank that has collected over 50,000 blood units since the beginning of the war in order to give to the victims and are provided, amongst others, on the specialized vehicles, including ambulances and bulletproof MICUs which make it possible for MDA teams to save more victims while decreasing their level of risk.

EU Ambassador Dimiter Tzantchev: “Magen David Adom is saving lives professionally and with empathy, as I could see for myself today at its National Operations Center. I was deeply impressed by the courage and the sense of duty of MDA personnel who were risking their own lives to save the lives of thousands of Israelis who found themselves under the murderous attack by the terrorists on October 7.”

Eli Bin, MDA’s General Director: “The cooperation between Magen David Adom with The EU and with EU Ambassador in Israel Dimiter Tzantchev in particular is strong and based on values and saving lives. The EU invests in Magen David Adom in research, development and promotion of important subjects in Israel and in Europe. I would like to thank The Ambassador and the head of the cooperation section for clearing their schedules and arriving to strengthen Magen David Adom which is working around the clock throughout the country in order to save lives.”
